The artisan cluster is headed by Nirupama Jena, a mother of two daughters who aspires to bring financial independence to her group. A willing and skilled artisan, she commands the network of finely tuned processes that range from cutting and clearing of sabai grass, soaking in water, braiding, drying, coloring, and finishing. The trade resides within the rural communities of Balasore district of Orissa, India.
